Hello,
We have encountered an issue with our HVS v7.2. Every couple of months we run a copy of a new application to around 10 offices around the globe. The app is around 200Mb in size, made up of around 2000 files and it's always copied to a fresh location.
This month it worked for all locations except one, where one file was not copied. There was also no mention of it in the log file.

The copy occurred a couple of weeks ago, but I only found out this morning that all wasn't well, as the application wouldn't install in that location.

My questions are
1) Any ideas what may have happened?
2) Is there a way to run a verification after the copy to check that all files are in place?

Any help gratefully received.

Regards,
Nic

It is hard to troubleshoot the issue after a couple of weeks and without a log file trace. We would want to make sure you are running the latest 7.2 version. You may check your build date and version from your PeerSync Profiler -->Help-->About PeerSync screen.

Then go to the link below to verify that the latest build for v7.2 is what you are currently running, if not I would urge an upgrade to make sure you are up to date with the latest fixes.

Hello, Yes I have checked that we have the latest version 7.2.2 - Feb 14th 2006. Yes I understand the issue of trying to troubleshoot a couple of weeks after the event, it does seem strange that the file did not show in the log file.
I will try a similar copy to the server in question and see if I can get the same result.
To the second part of my question is there a way to validate the copy is complete and whole?

Nic,

PeerSync does not have a post process to revalidate the data, since it simply relys on informing the user through reporting (email/Admin/Log) of any file copy failures.

Please let us know if are able to reproduce the problem so that we can review the logs and troubleshoot the issue for you.

Morning,

I ran another 200Mb copy job from London to Singapore (across a 2Mb pipe) last night.
I set the number of threads down to 1, so it was easier to see in the PeerSync Profiler what was going on.
12 hours later the job finished, but it had only copied 1721 out of 1724 files.
So three files hadn't copied across and don't appear anywhere in the log files.
The three files were
Legend.browser, mme.browser and mozilla.brower.
All the other files in that directory (all with a .browser extension) copied fine. The directory is \blp\Wintrv\Framework_files\v2.0.50727\Config\Browsers.

I will happily send you the logs, what's your e-mail address?

Thanks,
Nic
