We would like to have software running either on a remote server (static IP, across town, not in our domain), or on a workstation in our domain (or both). The solution should mirror on to the hosted remote server, any files dropped into a staging folder on the workstation. Also as the remote server processes, and removes the files from the mirrored folder, the workstation stage folder must also be updated by having the files deleted to reflect the status of the servers mirrored folder. Basically a two way sync between to folders, one on a server, and one on a workstation, there is no existing (domain) trust between the two boxes (a VPN is not an option).

I would recommend that you install PeerSync on both the server and workstation so that you can monitor real-time events on either side.
PeerSync must be installed wherever you want to monitor real-time events.

I'm assuming that the workstation will be consistently online.

You will also require the TCP WAN Connector add-on module on both computers.
