If you are looking to backup your live Database you will be able to use our PeerSync Product as well as our Save-N-Sync product.
You would use the PeerSync Server products if you are looking to backup a database from a Server to a remote machine/Server.
If you are using our PeerSync product for live database backup and are transferring large database files from one source to one or more remote machines, we might also suggest the ByteReplicator option.
With our standard PeerSync, if a file changed, the whole file is copied from the source machine to the target. We offer an option for our ByteReplicator. With the ByteReplicator option PeerSync can send the changed segment of a file from the source machine to the target machine.
Our byte/block tool works as follows: The PeerSync application is installed on the source machine and a small application, PeerSync Listener, is installed on the target. If a file on the source is changed, PeerSync sends just the changed segments of the file. PeerSync allows you to adjust the block segment size. Larger segments require fewer CPU calculations with larger segments sent across the network while smaller segments means more CPU calculations with reduced bandwidth requirements.
PeerSync Server Edition costs $499 each, PeerSync High Volume Server costs $899 each. Each target machines requires an Enhanced Connection License with ByteReplicator (PeerSync Listener) for $295 each.
You would use our Save-N-Sync product if you are looking to backup/synchronize a database from your desktop to a secondary drive (such as a laptop).
With either product the Embedded Open File Manager will be needded to access open and locked files, such as database file when they are in use on your source machine.
The EOFM option allows open and locked files such as Outlook (.pst), database, and system files to be copied even though they may be in use.
